The Scuttlebutt Featuring Articles About Two Irvine City Council Members Implicated In Bribe Scheme, Psilocybin Bill Introduced In Missouri, Tweaking 280e May Be A Better Option Than The SAFE Banking Act and More

In the days of the Armada, a fleet of warships, the scuttlebutt was the rumor or gossip that would spread throughout the ship. Today, Armada Law Corp presents The Scuttlebutt, a daily summery of news articles that people within the cannabis, hemp and plant medicine industries are chatting about along with links to the full articles.

In today's news:

#californiacannabis - "A good cannabis insurance policy has a mix of several types of small business insurance that can cover your business from a variety of problems. Those include the cost of claims, theft and damages to your business property and lawsuits.

A business owners policy (BOP) is a good place to start. A BOP bundles three key coverage types and it's usually cheaper than buying each coverage type separately."

#cannabisindustry - "For years, the focus of cannabis reform advocates in Congress has been the SAFE Banking Act. That still may become law, and it would certainly benefit the industry. But after at least six failed attempts to pass SAFE, maybe tweaking an obscure provision of the Internal Revenue Code is the best chance to give cannabis companies a fighting chance to succeed."

#psilocybin - "Missouri Rep. Tony Lovasco introduced House Bill 869 on Jan. 18 that would allow psilocybin therapy, which is a revised version of a bill that he introduced in 2022.

Under the current bill text, it would allow patients to use psilocybin to treat conditions such as depression or post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as those who are terminally ill and suffering from mental health. It would also cover patients who have undergone treatments for other conditions that were unsuccessful."

#psychedelics - "At the time of our first ketamine psychedelic therapy session, we were seeing a couples therapist every other week. On one of the off weeks, we decided to give psychedelics a shot. We'd heard stories about how psychedelic-assisted therapy had helped others overcome trauma, save their relationship, and allow them to be happier, better versions of themselves.

We were sold. So we sat down, wrote out problem areas in our relationship, took psychedelics, and chatted basically nonstop for six hours.

The next week, as we went into couples counseling, our therapist stopped us midsession. "What happened to you two?" she said. "You've made a year of progress in the last week!""

#californiacannabis - "When influential Orange County Democratic consultant Melahat Rafiei announced she was taking a plea deal with federal investigators for attempted wire fraud last week, it sent shockwaves through the local community.

But one of the biggest revelations in the plea agreement wasn't what she was charged for.

In her plea agreement, Rafiei admitted to trying to bribe two Irvine City Council members on behalf of a client in 2018 to bring a cannabis dispensary to the city."
